We open on a beautiful summer day. Tamara is playing by the ocean, but despite her brother's best efforts to cover for her, her presence is required in the great hall for the coronation ceremony that will ultimately give her more responsibilities than a child should have. So, naturally, she refuses, and inadvertently opens a wormhole to parallel reality.
